Amazon has officially confirmed today that it’s first FBA warehouse in Australia will be located in Dandenong South district of Melbourne. As reported earlier by ForwardToFBA, speculations were already running high about this location, which are now confirmed by the statement from Robert Bruce.
Amazon’s director of operations for Australia stated:
We are thrilled to be creating hundreds of new roles in Dandenong South, This is just the start. Over time, we will bring thousands of new jobs to Australia and millions of dollars of investment as well as opening up the opportunity for thousands of Australian businesses to sell at home and abroad through Amazon Marketplace.
This new fulfillment center will stock hundreds of thousands of products which will be available for delivery to customers across Australia when we launch our retail offering, We will be focusing on offering our Australian customers low prices on a great selection of products and can’t wait to get started.
This 24,000 Sq. Meter FBA warehouse located 26 Miles from Melbourne in Pellicano’s M2 Industry Park in Dandenong South, is welcomed by local authorities who rejoice on the fact that arrival of Amazon will bring jobs for local Victorian community as well as it would create retail opportunities for small business.
Amazon Australia is on schedule for its launch later this year, the tech behemoth hasn’t confirmed yet but we have already reported the location of second warehouse to be in Sydney.
